Here and Now
Virtual Reality

Facebook’s first original VR film, Here and Now is a four-minute piece that explores eight interwoven stories coming together in a single night at New York’s iconic Grand Central Station.

Shot over four nights, we meticulously choreographed the movements and dialogue of each of the film’s protagonists and 400 extras, utilizing audio and visual cues to guide viewers through a primary narrative that was occurring around them in 360 degrees, while also including secondary and tertiary storylines that encouraged exploration on repeat viewings. The film was then finished with a soundtrack of Nico’s “These Days” and a binaural sound mix at Hans Zimmer’s 14th Street Studios, completing the immersive and emotional experience.

“Facebook's first original VR film reveals the true potential for the future of filmmaking.”
-Mashable

“The range of characters and stories to engage with, along with the ability to just look around the main hall, makes this an immersive video that mirrors more closely to a real-life experience and one that is different every time.”
-VR Scout

“The piece has an oddly emotional effect — its theatricality and its naturalism combine to create a curiously meaningful meditation on people and place.”
-AdWeek
