The best way to market or advertise a product is often through the use of the product itself.
As part of the launch of Facebook Live - by far the largest software launch in the company’s history - we concepted and created the “Live Map.” The Live Map dynamically showed real-time nodes of all publicly shared Live videos broadcast globally, as they happened, helping increase adoption of the product, as well as consumption and creation of new videos. Hovering over a node allowed a pop-up preview of the feed, and clicking into it provided a full screen experience.
To market Facebook Live, we then scoured the Live Map for the most interesting and entertaining films, and with permission from the broadcasters, turned those feeds into TV, Out of Home, and Web ads for the service.
